During my time at the University of Colorado Boulder, I've had the opportunity to work for the University of Colorado's sports broadcasting team for the PAC 12 Network. Through Buff Vision, I worked behind the scenes to strategically communicate goals, manage media content, and collaborate amongst the production and marketing teams during events. Through my experience at Buff Vision, I could comprehend the basic skills required for broadcast production and became proficient with audio equipment.
I have also had the opportunity to report on events published by The Bold, the CU student-run paper. I channeled a strong writer's voice bringing awareness to the Boulder community about the successes of women's athletic programs and the shortcomings in providing equal resources in the media production facility. I analyzed data, conducted interviews, researched records, and produced compelling stories.
I was also allowed to practice my on-camera reporting and attend press conferences for Sko Buff Broadcasting, the student-run sports broadcast. Being able to tailor my persona as a broadcaster has been one of the most rewarding experiences as I continue to promote the success of others. I learned how to manage social media, conduct on-camera interviews, and give updates during events. Through these experiences, I have tasted what the sports media and broadcast production industry offers.
Promoting women's success in sports has always been important to me. Female athletes have the power to inspire younger generations to pursue their dreams and become leaders, which is why I continue to take part in the fight for gender equality in athletics. Through these experiences, as I continue to promote women's athletics and become a voice to advocate the milestones on the field, we will see more progress off the field.
